Biggest year to date for Sellick Partnership’s charity fundraiserBusiness professionals from across Greater Manchester came together recently at the Manchester Professionals’ Cricket League (MPCL) Charity Awards Lunch, raising around £10,000 for charity.

Hosted by recruitment specialists the Sellick Partnership, the MPCL Charity Awards Lunch, in association with Spire Manchester Hospital, celebrates the success of the eighth annual cricket league hosted by the firm throughout the summer, and raises vital funds for St Ann’s Hospice and The Lord’s Taverners.

More than 270 people attended the event at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, including guest speaker and cricket legend Matthew Hoggard MBE and Rachel McMillan, Deputy Chief Executive at St Ann’s Hospice.

The lunch marks the close of this year’s cricket league with the cup and plate being awarded to PwC and The University of Manchester, respectively.

Commenting on the league, Team Captain Ali Qasim and Senior Associate at PwC said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed another year of the well organised MPCL league and Awards Lunch. It is a great initiative for growing people’s professional and personal networks as well as getting people active and raising money for two well deserving causes.”

Jo Sellick, Managing Director of Sellick Partnership, established the MPCL to achieve three goals; to promote cricket as a sport, to create a platform for networking opportunities across Manchester and to raise funds for charity. Tens of thousands of pounds has been raised for St Ann’s Hospice and the Lord’s Taverners since the league was established in 2009.

Sports devotee Jo commented on the success: “This year has been the biggest yet for the MPCL, allowing us to once again raise a substantial amount of money for our two charities. Both charities are very close to my heart, and it is touching to see so many businesses from across Manchester come together year-on-year to offer support. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part in the competition, and that contributed to this year’s overwhelming success.”
