+UK workers feel sufficiently undervalued by their employer that 19% of them are preparing to move on in 2014, a survey has suggested.
Of more than 1,000 people surveyed, 16% said they would leave because they did not think their employer valued them, the Institute of Leadership & Management said.
Nearly one third (31%) said they were unsure whether they would stay in their post this year. Seventy nine per cent of those who plan to leave would like to work at another company.
“The survey illustrates just how crucial it is that workers feel valued in the workplace,” said Charles Elvin, CEO of the ILM.
“As many workers like to make a change at this time of year, it is important that organisations adapt to this phase by offering the chance to learn new skills and opportunities to progress wherever possible,” he added.
When asked their resolutions for 2014, the most popular response from workers (31%) was getting a better work-life balance, followed by getting more training (28%).
