A business hiring guide has been published by the Institute of Recruiters to help internal recruiters and external agencies work better together.
Outlining the various different ways to hire workers, the guide aims to highlight where businesses can draw staff from and how they can plan for long-term talent requirements. The IOR expects recruiters to share the guide with their clients to highlight how companies with internal recruiters can still make use of agencies.
“Millions are being lost in agency revenues when their recruiters are not qualified to offer the full services a business needs,” said Azmat Mohammed (pictured), director general of the IOR. “As a result, the business has to work harder to recruit and internal recruiters have to carry more of the burden of constantly finding the best talent.”
Earlier this month the IOR launched the industry’s first career map – a two-page guide that shows how agency recruiters, internal recruiters and HR professionals can follow their career paths in relation to each other. It also shows career mobility.
Mohammed said: “It’s essential for business owners and their staff to get a better overview of where they sit in comparison to others within the same profession,” he says, “It’s also an invaluable tool to encourage people to choose recruitment as a profession and stay in it.”
The map includes detailed course and qualification information and salary benchmarking, from resource and admin roles up to board director. It also illustrates how a recruitment career compares to those of internal recruiters and HR professionals.
“One thing it highlights is the IOR’s comprehensive new curriculum – 70% of recruitment skills are not included in other qualifications. We were shocked when we discovered this and were determined to put that right,” Mohammed added.
