Global jobs board operator CareerBuilder has acquired Oil and Gas Job Search as part of its continuing expansion of niche online job search platforms.
The number of roles sought in the oil and gas industry in the US and Canada is set to grow to more than 1m and 70,000 respectively, analysts predict. In the UK, meanwhile, jobs in natural gas extraction are projected to grow by 62% over the same period.
With its latest acquisition, CareerBuilder plans to expand further into north American markets, according to Tony Roy, president of CareerBuilder in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (pictured). He said: “The oil and gas industries are growing, and a large portion of its global workforce is nearing retirement. Finding highly-skilled workers will be a paramount challenge for employers in this space; we’re excited to help them meet their demand.”
Duncan Freer, CEO of Oil and Gas Job Search, said: “Joining the CareerBuilder network offers us the chance to accelerate our growth and continue building relationships in key markets in the USA and across the world. It moves Oil and Gas Job Search on to a new level and this is a hugely exciting time for our clients and staff.”
Oil and Gas Search also owns four other niche sites, which CareerBuilder will acquire: MiningJobSearch.com, RailJobSearch.com, UtilityJobSearch.com and ConstructionJobSearch.co.uk.
Previous acquisitions for CareerBuilder include TopLanguageJobs.co.uk, last year, and more recently Economic Modeling Specialists, an economic software company that produces employment data and labour market analysis.
