Multi-national recruiter Gi Group has been selected to take part in a European Commission project to help young people find work in other EU countries.

Called ‘Your first EURES job’, the initiative aims to find jobs for at least 500 people in SMEs and multi-national companies across the UK, Germany, Poland, Spain, Romania and Italy. Gi is just one of five recruiters to have been chosen to take part in the project this year.

The project offers services and financial support to those aged between 18 and 30 who wish to find jobs in companies across Europe. Gi Group will be supporting the initiative by providing contributions to travel expenses, preparatory training in languages and soft skills, and some on-the-job training where relevant.

Stefano Colli-Lanzi, CEO of the Gi Group, said: “For the Gi Group this is the first initiative of many where we will be involved with this international mobility project, and as a multinational player in the industry we are in the optimum position to be at the forefront of major project development.”

“Our mission is to become a global benchmark in the labour market and to help fight youth unemployment. Thanks to this initiative, we have the opportunity to capitalise on the experience we have gained so far in Italy and abroad to help young people find professional opportunities abroad, and companies to hire talented individuals.”

Every three months, the company will send the European Commission a report on the work done and the young people placed in employment. It will use its UK as the base for its work on this project, so will focus on providing opportunities in sectors where skills have been difficult to source here, or there are specific language requirements.

The Gi Group is headquartered in Italy, and operates across 19 countries in Europe, America and Asia.
