Renewables recruitment firm expands with new Netherlands office

July 5, 2018  /   No Comments

Cathcart Energy is expanding further on the continent with a new office opening in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This is its third office in Europe after opening in Germany and Sweden.

A subsidiary of Edinburgh-based IT recruitment specialists Cathcart Associates, Cathcart Energy focuses on recruitment within the renewable energy sector across the UK and Europe. The port of Rotterdam, one of Europe’s largest harbours, plays a major role in the Netherlands’ offshore energy success. It is a key location for building wind turbines and a hub for renewable energy companies.

The Dutch government has invested heavily in wind energy, including smart grid innovations and solutions, and there is a high demand for skilled employees across the wind sector in the Netherlands.

Gordon Kaye, managing director of Cathcart Associates, said: “Even though the windmill industry has been around in the Netherlands for over 500 years, we felt it was the right time to expand into the Netherlands due to the buoyance of the renewable energy market there, in particularly wind energy.

“The Netherlands is aiming to cut CO2 emissions by half and generate 40% of its electricity from sustainable sources such as wind, biomass and solar. Additionally, the European Renewable Energy Directive has set targets for countries to reach 14% renewable energy by 2020 and this will increase to 16% by 2023. More renewable energy projects are being implemented to help reach these targets and our recruitment service is on the ground to find the right candidates to fill the increasing number of roles available across the country.”
