Opinio Group, a set of digital businesses focussed on improving the jobseeker’s journey, has appointed renowned tech entrepreneur Rob Wilmot (pictured) as non-executive chairman.
One of the four founding executives of Freeserve, Wilmot became one of the youngest executive officers of a FTSE 100 when the company floated for £280m on the London Stock Exchange. He was 29. He left Freeserve in 2001 and has since founded and invested in a number of ventures.
Opinio Group wants to expand into the US and China with its product MyJobMatcher.com, in which jobseekers upload their CVs and are matched with the most appropriate jobs. 700,000 live UK jobs are sent daily from all the best and leading job boards.
“I’m extremely selective when it comes to new business ventures but Opinio Group – and in particular MyJobMatcher.com – has come a long way in a very short time, so it was too compelling an opportunity to miss,” Wilmot said. “Already, close to half a million jobseekers have signed up since the site’s launch in April – with an average 3,000 new members joining daily.”
Chris Smith, CEO of Opinio Group, added: “We were so keen to bring Rob on board – to have someone of his calibre on the team is a wonderful testament to how far we’ve come in such a short space of time.”
