Lawson joins Better Placed

Lawson joins Better Placed Better Placed Recruitment has recently appointed one of the Midland’s best-known HR recruiters, James Lawson, to head up its HR recruitment division.

James has spent the past 10 years working at a market-leading recruitment business in the East Midlands, where he was most recently Operations Director. In addition to building the HR recruitment division into a team of 12, he was also responsible for 50 other consultants and helped take the brand to fifth place in the Sunday Times Top 100.

In his new role as Head of Better Placed Recruitment’s HR recruitment division – Better Placed HR People – he is planning to build a market-leading HR recruitment team of 15 consultants in three years, developing Better Placed HR People into a nationwide boutique brand from its existing offices, which will be facilitated by tapping into his strong networks in the Midlands.

Commenting on his new appointment, James said: “My belief, backed up by what my customers tell me, is that over the past five years the recruitment industry has become faceless and, in general, less relationship focused. My mission therefore is to change the face of HR recruitment.

“What I particularly liked about Better Placed is that they recognised this was happening and developed ‘The Real Network’ – a set of guiding principles which sees our brand of recruitment being built on true and authentic relationships with both client and candidates. We pride ourselves on getting out from behind social media and technology and meeting people face-to-face, where we believe the true relationship building happens.

“This dedication can be seen in our personal brand consultancy sessions which we run for our candidates, providing free career advice and support on areas such as CV building, how to create a winning LinkedIn profile and interview preparation and support.”
