Glassdoor appoints new Chief Human Resources Officer

Recruitment giant Glassdoor has appointed Carmel Galvin its new Chief Human Resources Officer. With over 25 years’ HR experience, Galvin has previously worked for multi-nationals such as Deloitte, Advent Software and Barra (now MSCI Barra).

While at Advent Software, Galvin served as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer overseeing the company’s global people strategies and programs. Prior to that, she was Deloitte’s VP of talent and culture for the company’s New Venture Accelerator, advising a growing portfolio of innovative companies on how to scale and adjust their culture and talent programs. She has also served as the Global Head of HR for Moody’s KMV and Barra Inc.

Galvin said: “Glassdoor is disrupting the employment space through greater workplace transparency, putting the power of information into the hands of employees. I’m thrilled to join a company focused on improving the world of work and the way in which employees and employers connect.

“I’m especially excited to join Glassdoor at a time where the company is experiencing rapid growth as a business and as an employer, and with that looking forward to the opportunity to build a world class HR organisation.”

A native of Ireland, Galvin received her bachelor’s degree in political science and business from Trinity College Dublin and master’s degree in Business Studies at the University College Dublin’s Smurfit School of Business.

Robert Hohman, Co-Founder and CEO of Glassdoor, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Carmel Galvin as she brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for this role, which is critical to helping Glassdoor scale our people operations globally and stay on the leading edge of talent acquisition, retention and employee satisfaction.
