First Choice celebrates appointment, promotion and 10-year landmark

First Choice celebrates appointment, promotion and 10-year landmarkWakefield-based First Choice Recruitment has much to celebrate this month with an appointment, a promotion and a member of the team marking a decade with the agency.

Sharing the news during its 25th anniversary year, First Choice has announced the appointment of Hannah Smith, who has joined the team as resource administrator. Megan Dunn has been promoted from resource administrator to recruitment consultant and Heidi Wood reaches a key milestone, as she has now been with the firm for a decade.

From candidate to full-time member of staff, Hannah approached First Choice to look for work before choosing to apply for the role as resource administrator with the agency.
She commented: “The team here are lovely and made me feel so welcome. I was attending interviews for previous jobs but always wanted to work for the agency. When the opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance. First Choice gave me the opportunity to prove that I can do the work and I’ll always be grateful for that.”

Since joining the team in 2016 as a temporary receptionist, Megan secured a permanent position within the business and has since worked her way to her most recent promotion to become a recruitment consultant.
She said: “I can’t believe that in just two years I’ve gone from being a temporary receptionist to a recruitment consultant. It just goes to show what you can achieve when you put your mind to it and you work with a fantastic team. We really are like one big family here and although it can be challenging, positively changing someone’s life makes it all worthwhile. I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in to my new role.”

Heidi Wood, who joined the team in 2008, has marked 10 years with the business. She said: “First Choice is a friendly agency and has a real family feel. I enjoy working here and am pleased to be marking a decade with the same business. You need to be resilient when you work in recruitment, but I think having a good sense of humour has been just as important throughout my career. I look forward to the next ten years!”

Managing Director of First Choice Recruitment, Anne Lockwood, elaborated: “We have so much to celebrate at First Choice and it’s great that this falls during our anniversary year. It’s heart-warming to know that people are joining, progressing and staying with the agency. We are like a family and that is very much reflected through our team.”
First Choice Recruitment was established by Anne Lockwood and Andy Turner in 1993 and has since become one of the longest-standing independent recruitment agencies supporting candidates and clients throughout the Wakefield district.
