Derby recruitment firm expands with apprentice appointment

Derby recruitment firm expands with apprentice appointmentA Derby recruitment consultancy has grown its business with the appointment of a digital marketing apprentice, further strengthening its working links with Derby College.

Sky Recruitment Solutions has appointed Max Pitt (18) from Duffield through the College’s apprenticeship recruitment and training programme.

Max will be responsible for raising the profile of Sky Recruitment Solutions through digital media platforms with the ultimate aim of progressing into a sales and business development role within the company.

Sky Recruitment Solutions already works closely with Derby College’s Roundhouse Recruitment and apprenticeship teams to provide a joined-up service for both young people and local businesses.

Under a new partnership arrangement, current college learners have more opportunities for part-time and seasonal work during their study programmes. They will then receive specialist support from the Sky Recruitment Solutions team and the college when looking for job and apprenticeship roles after graduating.

For employers, the partnership provides a broad spectrum of candidates from apprenticeship roles to higher management positions – working with a single point of contact at either Sky Recruitment Solutions or Derby College.

David Torrington, Managing Director at Sky Recruitment Solutions, explained: “I am committed to growing the business through apprenticeship programmes which are the ideal way of recruiting new people who we can train in our core beliefs and ethos.

“Digital marketing is a new role for our business and Max’s enthusiasm and skills are the ideal fit for us. The digital marketing apprenticeship programme will be the first step to Max building his career with us in a broader sales, marketing and business development role.”

Max, a former pupil at the Ecclesbourne School, continued: “After my A levels I started looking for an apprenticeship as I did not want to go to university but was keen to continue by education and training.

“I contacted Derby College about the roles available and was delighted when they put me forward for this apprenticeship. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the job through work experience and be part of a growing company.”

Derby College Deputy Principal, Employer and Economic Affairs, April Hayhurst concluded: “I am delighted that Sky Recruitment has been able to see at first hand the high quality service that we provide for employers – sourcing apprenticeship candidates and then supporting them through their training programme.”
