Almost half of British workers like their jobs, but two-thirds are experiencing burnout, a survey has found.
Just over a quarter of respondents said they loved their work, according to a survey by CareerBuilder.co.uk.
Meanwhile, 24% felt “mediocre” about work, while seven percent said they actively disliked or even hated their jobs.
The company also found that most British workers (62%) feel their work and life is in balance, with only 17% claiming dissatisfaction with how they juggle the two.
Despite indicating they’re happy at work, employees aren’t immune to feelings of burnout, however. Two-thirds of workers said they sometimes feel burned out in their jobs, and one in 10 say they always do.
“Burnout is natural and can happen to even the most dedicated workers at the best of employers,” said Scott Helmes, managing director of CareerBuilder UK. “For most workers it’s a passing phase, but when employees start to feel as if they are burned out all the time, it can start to affect their work and in some cases, the business overall.”
Another recent survey echoed CareerBuilder’s findings about happiness ay work. Specialist recruiter Maple Resourcing found that six in 10 workers felt their job made them happy, with people who have worked in their jobs for between one and five years the happiest.
Maple Resourcing found that construction and engineering workers are the happiest, closely followed by marketers and people who work in the finance industry.
