Recruitment technology specialist Broadbean has released its 2016 A Year in Recruitment: UK Recruitment Trends Report.
The report reveals that during 2016, only 18 out of the 48 sectors tracked by Broadbean showed a growth in the number of jobs, advertised compared with 2015.
However, of the 30 sectors that declined, 12 fell by less than 5%.
The fastest growing sectors based on the firm’s data were the Graduates and Trainees sector at 60%, followed by Call Centre and Customer Service at 16% and Logistics and Distribution at 15%. The sectors that declined most were Leisure and Sport, and Fashion (down 48% and 39%, respectively).
Whereas in 2015, Broadbean had recorded a distinct decline in application levels, this stabilised during 2016. Total application levels in the first half of the year were down 14% compared with the first half of 2015, whereas the second half of the year was 11% higher than the same period in 2015.
Applications per vacancy were steady during the year at an average of 20.4, up significantly from the 17.5 average during the second half of 2015.
