GetMyFirstJob reaches 300,000 apprenticeships milestoneApprenticeship matchmaking service GetMyFirstJob has announced it has reached a milestone in helping 300,000 young people find work.

According to the House of Commons Youth Unemployment statistics, there were 624,000 young people aged 16–24 unemployed in the UK from June 2016 to August 2016. In a climate of considerably high youth unemployment rates, social enterprises such as GetMyFirstJob are greatly received.

With targets set by the Government to recruit three million more apprentices by 2020 and with the Apprenticeship Levy due to be implemented in April, the focus on quality apprenticeships is at the forefront of the UK’s employment agenda and is a consistent driving force for GetMyFirstJob.

GetMyFirstJob works closely with training providers and employers to help young people find apprenticeships and training programmes that will provide a solid step on the career ladder.

The web platform has increased the number of young people entering apprenticeships that they are suited to, efficiently and quickly. This helps candidates improve their skills base, long-term career prospects and employability, having a direct impact on rates of employment among young people.

David Allison, Founder and CEO of GetMyFirstJob, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have reached this milestone and will continue striving to create a stronger bond between Britain’s youth and the employment market.

“Our mantra is; if training providers are able to fill vacancies more efficiently, employers will be encouraged to create more apprenticeships, thus in turn creating more opportunities for young people. With this in mind, we look forward to helping many more candidates reach their career ambitions.”

Since launching in 2011, the young person’s job network has and is actively helping in excess of a quarter of a million young people find work.

Every month GetMyFirstJob has an average 6,000 live apprenticeships and higher apprenticeship vacancies on its site and manages over 20,000 applications. The platform works with more than 50 of the largest and best known employers, from Rolls Royce and Jaguar Land Rover to Fujitsu, TK Maxx and Waitrose, as well as leading training providers and colleges to ensure candidates get the best-suited opportunities available.
