Almost two-thirds (60%) of jobseekers are annoyed by the lack of communication from recruiters when they apply for a job, according to a survey by fixed-fee recruitment company webrecruit.
Many complained of little feedback or even no communication at all, and 29% of respondents to webrecruit’s LinkedIn poll said they were annoyed about receiving no feedback after being shortlisted for a position.
Other jobseekers complained about auto-respond replies, as well as aspects of the job seeking process such as showing their interest in ‘fake jobs’ or filling out lengthy application forms.
Phil Roebuck, Founder of webrecruit said that the survey findings highlighted recruiters’ reliance on technology and mass communication, ahead of candidate care.
He said: “These findings are just the icing on the cake when it comes to the injustices of recruiting.
“As a recruiter, it’s our job to help align a person’s talent with what is possible within our client’s company by building relationships and communicating with our candidates.”
“Never providing feedback or communication can be debilitating to a candidate’s enthusiasm and confidence in their search for a new opportunity. As a candidate, although rejection can be painful, it’s as valuable in their search for a new position as a phone call to say they have been shortlisted or you have a suitable vacancy.”
